Chennai: Dr. Palani .G. Periasamy, President of The South Indian Sugar Mills Association, Tamilnadu (SISMA) & Chairman of Le Royal Méridien Chennai and one of the brightest luminaries from Tamil Nadu was honored with Life Time Achievement Award by STAI a organization which is formed for vibrant body that’s now the oldest and largest US-based service organization solely focused on Tamil Nadu. The award was conferred on him at the 75th Annual Convention and International Sugar Expo 2017 held in Kochi
The Sugar Technologists’ Association of India (STAI) is an apex body of sugar industry professionals and institutions pursuing the cause of development of sugar & allied industries in India through participatory process since its inception in 1925. Recognized by the Government of India as a Scientific & Industrial Research Organization, it is continuously striving to bring out cost effective and innovative technologies in sugar, power, alcohol and sugarcane farming to enhance productivity, quality and competitiveness. STAI presented this award to Dr Periasamy recognising his invaluable contributions made in the development of sugar industry.
Dr. Palani G. Periasamy’s interests in diverse industries ranging from hospitality, manufacturing, publishing, real estate and more was the driving force for him to grow as an accomplished businessman and lead PGP Group including member enterprises such as Le Royal Meridien Chennai & Coimbatore and Dharani Sugars & Chemicals Limited, among many others.
Academically brilliant, Dr. Palani .G. Periasamy holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a dynamic leader who has held many positions and besides SISMA (South India Sugar Mills Association) he is the Founder-President of TNF. He played a pivotal role in the early years of TNF, including obtaining the land in heart of Chennai where the TNF Technology Center is now located.
